SOURCING & CACAO PHILOSOPHY
At the heart of WANA HEY is ceremonial-grade cacao: wild strain, single-origin, and sourced directly from Peru.
We currently work with cacao from multiple regions, including the bright, floral cacao of Piura in northern Peru and wild Amazon rainforest cacao stewarded by Indigenous Awajún families in Amazonas.
Each origin carries its own flavor, rhythm, and energetic expression — shaped by climate, soil, fermentation, and relationship with the land.
We collaborate directly with farming communities and sourcing partners who prioritize ethical trade, regenerative practices, careful fermentation, and slow sun-drying techniques that preserve both flavor integrity and ceremonial potency.
Our sourcing partners also support fermentation methods designed to minimize heavy metal accumulation while helping uplift local economies through above-market compensation and long-term relationship building.
BRAND MYTHOLOGY
In Quechua, WANA means to weave (ancestral language of the Andean lands of Peru, the same lands where WANA HEY cacao grows).
